Stata: Introduction

The aim of this course is to help participants get started with the statistical program Stata. Stata is in academia but also in the private sector one of the most used programs for statistical analysis. This is mainly because this program is very powerful and has a simple and intuitive programming language. Thus Stata provides a user-friendly platform for both data processing and for the calculation of simple to very complex statistical models. Furthermore, Stata offers great possibilities to create various graphics in order to visualize the targeted data. One should give high priority to the graphical visualization of descriptive statistics and other results from the statistical analysis, because they simplify the illustration of potential data problems and also make the understanding of the results much easier.
