SharePoint: Experts - Communication

This expert hands-on training builds on the advanced course and has a deep focus on SharePoint Online for Communication, including the technical aspect of configuring and managing news in the SharePoint Online environment within the UZH-Intranet.
 
By the end of this hands-on course, participants will understand the deep technical features behind SharePoint Online to effectively manage the news connected to their UZH-Intranet site. Participants will gain the skills at an expert user level to maintain their UZH-Intranet news, including techniques for configuring news items for target audience and mastering the use of templates.
 
You may take this expert-level course, if you already have attended the advanced course (live or through the training recording) or if you already have extended in deep working experience in SharePoint Online.

  • Measuring news performance using analytics 
  • Understanding audience engagement metrics: Identifying key engagement metrics and optimising news based on analytics 
  • Enhancing user engagement by targeting news items in SharePoint Online, including best practices for audience segmentation 
Before taking this course, please ensure you have the following knowledge: 
  • Create web pages based on UZH-Intranet templates  
  • How to ensure e-accessibility 
  • Introduction to news items and how they work 
  • Creating news items in SharePoint Online 
  • Publishing news items 
  • Managing the news items on the site 
  • Organising and displaying news 
  • Best practices for news engagement 
  • Best practices for news content 
 
You will also need a computer and a Microsoft 365 account from the University of Zurich. 
SharePoint Online site owners for faculties, departments or offices and content managers of UZH-Intranet who have already attended the SharePoint Advanced course or who already have extensive experience in working with SharePoint Online, Microsoft Lists and their integration. 
At the end of the course, participants will be able to: 
  • manage global meta data in SharePoint admin center. 
  • master the news governance plan. 
  • use their deeper understanding of the technical configuration for managing news items in SharePoint Online (SPO). 
  • manage and integrate news in SPO mobile app and share news items via Outlook 
  • integrate news items with the UZH-Intranet site to increase user engagement and communication within the SharePoint Hubs. 
  • track and analyse news performance. 
  • work efficiently with audience targeting. 
After the course, the participants will receive the slides, labs and access to the test environment. 
In this hands-on course, you will learn practical examples of how to effectively manage and design your UZH-Intranet site in news topics using configuration and advanced management options.
